Centre Appoints IAS and IPS Officers to Key Roles Across Census, Ministries, and Policy Bodies

The Government of India has announced a series of senior-level appointments of IAS and IPS officers across key ministries, census operations, and national policy institutions under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS). These postings, cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) through the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), are aimed at strengthening administrative leadership in governance, census management, and policy execution.

Key Census Appointments Across States

The Centre has appointed several officers to lead Census Operations and Citizen Registration in different states:

Ms. Ranjita, IAS (BH:2013) — Appointed Director of Census Operations/Director of Citizen Registration, Bihar (Deputy Secretary level) for a 3-year term.

Shri Sanjeev Shrivastava, IAS (MP:2011) — Appointed Director of Census Operations/Director of Citizen Registration, Madhya Pradesh (Director level).

Shri Ramachandran R, IAS (KN:2012) — Appointed Director of Census Operations/Director of Citizen Registration, Karnataka (Director level).

Shri Vinod P. Kavle, IAS (AGMUT:2008) — Assigned additional charge as Director of Census Operations/Director of Citizen Registration, Mizoram (Director level).

These appointments are seen as preparatory steps for upcoming national census and citizen registration exercises, ensuring robust administrative oversight.

Key Central Deputation Appointments

Several officers have also been appointed to important roles in central ministries and policy institutions:

Shri Mahendra Kumar, IAS — Appointed Director in Ministry of Corporate Affairs for a 5-year term.

Shri Navtej Singh, IAS — Appointed Director in NITI Aayog.

Shri Krishna Kumar, IAS — Appointed Deputy Secretary in Department of Rural Development for 4 years.

Shri Rohit Malpani, IPS — Appointed Director in NATGRID under Ministry of Home Affairs.

These postings reflect the government’s focus on strengthening corporate regulation, rural development, national planning, and internal security frameworks.

Appointment Guidelines

As per ACC’s directions conveyed in DoP&T Circular No. 3/4/2004-EO(MM-1) dated 17 August 2005:

Officers must join their new assignments within three weeks of the appointment order.

Failure to do so will trigger the debarment process from the Central Staffing Scheme.
