Madhya Pradesh is set to witness a major administrative reshuffle in the coming days, with large-scale transfers of IAS and IPS officers on the cards. The move is expected to impact governance across more than 35 districts, as the state government prepares to reassign key अधिकारियों at both district and सचिवालय levels.

Sources indicate that detailed discussions regarding the reshuffle have already taken place between Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, signaling that the process is now in its final stages.

Collectors Likely to Change in Around 18 Districts

According to administrative sources, the first phase of the reshuffle may see the transfer of collectors in nearly 18 districts. Several prominent districts, including Bhopal, are likely to witness key changes.

There is strong speculation that the current Bhopal Collector, Vikram Kaushalendra Singh, may be assigned a more significant role within the administration. In his place, officers such as Priyank Mishra or a senior lady IAS officer may be considered.

Sources also suggest that the government is actively exploring the possibility of appointing a woman Collector in a major urban district—seen as a step toward balanced representation in key प्रशासनिक positions.

Officers from Secretariat May Return to Field

The reshuffle is expected to involve movement in both directions. Several officers currently posted at Vallabh Bhavan (state secretariat) may be sent back to district-level assignments to strengthen field administration.

At the same time, a number of district collectors may be brought into the secretariat or ministry roles. Districts from where officers are likely to be shifted include:

Narmadapuram
Betul
Gwalior
Shivpuri
Rewa
Indore
Umaria
Maihar

These decisions are expected to be based on performance, administrative experience, and governance track record.

Possible Changes in Chief Minister’s Office

The reshuffle may extend to the top layers of governance as well. Sources indicate that changes are being considered within the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

One of the existing secretaries in the CMO may be shifted
A new सचिव could be inducted
Adjustments at the level of Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary are also likely

Such changes are aimed at improving coordination, enhancing efficiency, and bringing a fresh administrative approach at the highest levels.

Major Police Reshuffle on the Cards

Alongside IAS transfers, the IPS cadre is also expected to undergo a significant shake-up. Around 20 district Superintendents of Police (SPs) may be transferred.

Districts where changes are likely include:

Khargone
Bhind
Dhar
Rewa
Jhabua

In addition, around nine officers—including two Railway SPs who have already been promoted but are still serving in district roles—are likely to be reassigned to new responsibilities.

Performance-Based Postings to Drive Governance

Sources reveal that performance is a key factor guiding the reshuffle. Officers with strong track records and effective field performance are likely to be posted in strategically important districts.

Conversely, those with relatively weaker performance may be moved to less critical assignments.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is said to be focusing on strengthening governance by placing efficient and result-oriented officers in crucial positions. The objective is to ensure:

Faster implementation of government schemes
Improved coordination between departments
Better public service delivery at the grassroots level

A Strategic Administrative Reset

This large-scale reshuffle is being viewed as a strategic administrative reset aimed at energizing the state’s governance machinery. With multiple districts set to receive new leadership, the changes are expected to have a direct impact on development execution, law and order management, and public interface.

As the final list is awaited, administrative circles across Madhya Pradesh are closely watching the developments, which could redefine bureaucratic roles and responsibilities across the state in the months ahead.
