In a significant bureaucratic development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Shri Sunish S, a 2010-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), as Director in the Department of Revenue.
The decision has been taken based on the recommendation of the Civil Services Board (CSB), which evaluates and proposes appointments of senior officers under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Currently serving as Internal Financial Advisor (IFA) in the President’s Secretariat, Sunish S brings with him considerable experience in financial administration and governance. His new role in the Department of Revenue is expected to further strengthen financial oversight and policy implementation within the ministry.
According to the official order, the appointment will come into effect from the date he assumes charge of the new position. The tenure will continue until January 10, 2028, or until further orders are issued by the government, whichever is earlier.
The Central Staffing Scheme enables the Government of India to appoint experienced officers from various services to key positions in central ministries and departments, ensuring administrative efficiency and policy continuity.
The Department of Revenue, functioning under the Ministry of Finance, plays a crucial role in managing the country’s taxation system, including both direct and indirect taxes. The appointment of a seasoned officer like Sunish S is seen as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to reinforce administrative capacity in critical departments.
