Singh, a 2012-batch IPS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, was inducted into the CBI in December 2025 as a Superintendent of Police for a five-year deputation term.

As per the same DoPT order, his tenure—originally scheduled to conclude on April 28, 2026—has now been extended until April 27, 2027.
Katta has been associated with the CBI since April 2022 and has played a role in handling sensitive investigations and administrative responsibilities. The extension of his tenure ensures continuity in ongoing cases and reflects the agency’s reliance on his experience and institutional knowledge.
