UP Transfers 9 Senior IPS Officers; Alok Singh Shifted from Kanpur Zone, Anupam Kulshreshtha Named New ADG
The Government of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday carried out a major reshuffle involving nine senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, making significant changes across key police departments including the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Crime Branch, Cyber Crime, Training Directorate and the state emergency response system UP-112.
The latest transfer order includes officers of Director General (DG), Additional Director General (ADG) and Inspector General (IG) ranks and is aimed at strengthening operational coordination, law enforcement efficiency and technology-driven policing across the state.
Jai Narain Singh Appointed DG of Economic Offences Wing
Jai Narain Singh has been relieved from his responsibilities as Director General of Police at the UP Power Corporation Limited and appointed as Director General of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Lucknow.
The Economic Offences Wing handles investigations related to financial fraud, economic crimes, cyber-linked monetary offences and large-scale financial irregularities in the state.
Officials said the appointment comes at a time when the state government is focusing on strengthening economic crime investigations and financial intelligence coordination.
Dhruv Kant Thakur Gets Additional Charge of Home Guards
Dhruv Kant Thakur, who is currently serving as Director General of Civil Defence, has now been given the additional responsibility of Home Guards.
With the latest order, both Civil Defence and Home Guards will function under his supervision, bringing two important auxiliary security and emergency response wings under unified administrative leadership.
Vinod Kumar Singh Assigned Additional Charge of UP-112
Vinod Kumar Singh, presently handling responsibilities in the CID and Cyber Crime wings, has been assigned additional charge of UP-112.
UP-112 is the state’s integrated emergency response system that handles distress calls and rapid police assistance across Uttar Pradesh.
Officials stated that Singh will continue managing Cyber Crime and CID operations alongside the new assignment, reflecting the growing emphasis on technology-based policing and integrated response systems.
Major Changes in ADG-Level Postings
Alok Singh Removed from Kanpur Zone
Alok Singh has been transferred from the strategically important post of ADG, Kanpur Zone, and appointed as ADG, PAC Headquarters, Lucknow.
In addition to his new posting, he has also been entrusted with the additional charge of the Special Security Force.
Kanpur Zone is considered one of the most sensitive and operationally significant policing zones in Uttar Pradesh due to its industrial importance and law-and-order challenges.
Anupam Kulshreshtha Appointed New ADG, Kanpur Zone
Anupam Kulshreshtha has been shifted from the position of ADG, Agra Zone, and appointed as the new ADG of Kanpur Zone.
The posting is regarded as a key operational assignment within the Uttar Pradesh Police hierarchy due to the zone’s strategic and administrative importance.
A Satish Ganesh Gets Additional Charge of Crime Branch
A Satish Ganesh, who is currently serving as ADG, Traffic and Road Safety, has now been assigned additional charge as ADG, Crime Branch, Uttar Pradesh.
With the dual responsibility, he will oversee both traffic management and crime investigation-related operations in the state.
The Crime Branch plays an important role in handling complex criminal investigations, inter-district crime coordination and specialised investigative work.
R K Swarnakar Posted to UP Power Corporation
R K Swarnakar has been transferred from the post of ADG, PAC Headquarters, and posted as ADG at the UP Power Corporation Limited in Lucknow.
The posting involves coordination of security and administrative matters linked to the state power utility corporation.
S K Bhagat Appointed ADG, Agra Zone
S K Bhagat has been transferred from the position of ADG, Crime, and appointed as ADG, Agra Zone.
The Agra Zone remains an important policing jurisdiction due to its tourism significance, urban law-and-order responsibilities and interstate connectivity.
Geeta Singh Shifted to Training Directorate
Geeta Singh has been transferred from the post of Inspector General, Prosecution, and appointed Inspector General at the Training Directorate, Lucknow.
The Training Directorate supervises police academies, training institutions and capacity-building programmes for police personnel across Uttar Pradesh.
Officials said the assignment is important for strengthening professional training standards and modern policing practices within the force.
Reshuffle Focused on Operational Efficiency
According to officials, the latest reshuffle has been carried out to improve coordination, strengthen specialised police wings and ensure greater administrative efficiency across departments handling cyber crime, emergency response, investigation, training and internal security.
The Uttar Pradesh government has increasingly focused on modernising policing systems through technology integration, rapid response mechanisms and specialised crime investigation units.
The latest changes are expected to streamline administrative functioning and reinforce operational preparedness in some of the state’s most critical law enforcement departments.
