The Andhra Pradesh Government has carried out a fresh round of transfers in the Indian Police Service (IPS), reassigning six young officers to new field and administrative responsibilities across the state. The reshuffle, which takes effect immediately, primarily involves Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) being posted as Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) and Additional Superintendents of Police (Administration) in strategically important districts.

The latest exercise is part of the state’s ongoing cadre management process aimed at strengthening district policing, improving administrative coordination and providing wider field exposure to young IPS officers during the formative years of their careers.

Most of the officers affected by the transfer order belong to the 2021, 2022 and 2023 batches of the Indian Police Service and have been serving in key district assignments since completing their training.

Six IPS Officers Shifted in Latest Administrative Exercise

According to the government order issued on administrative grounds, six IPS officers have been transferred and assigned new responsibilities across different districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The reshuffle reflects the government’s continuing emphasis on placing young officers in diverse operational and administrative roles to broaden their experience in policing, law and order management and district administration.

Officials said the transfers are routine in nature and are intended to ensure efficient deployment of officers in line with administrative requirements.

Niyojyoti Mishra Posted as OSD (Administration), Markapur

Among the prominent transfers, Niyojyoti Mishra (IPS:2021:AP) has been shifted from her current posting as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Chintapalli, to take charge as Officer on Special Duty (Administration), Markapur District.

The new assignment is expected to provide her with broader administrative responsibilities involving district-level coordination, police management and supervision of key administrative functions.

As one of the relatively young officers in the Andhra Pradesh cadre, the posting is seen as an important step in her professional development.

Patil Devraj Manish Appointed Additional SP (Administration), East Godavari

Another significant posting involves Patil Devraj Manish (IPS:2022:AP).

Previously serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kakinada, he has now been appointed Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration), East Godavari District, with headquarters at Rajahmundry.

The assignment places him in one of Andhra Pradesh’s important districts, where he will be responsible for handling administrative matters and assisting senior district police leadership in ensuring the smooth functioning of police operations.

Manda Javali Alfons Shifted to Polavaram

The government has also transferred Manda Javali Alfons (IPS:2022:AP), who was serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Nandyal.

He has now been posted as Officer on Special Duty (Administration), Polavaram District.

The Polavaram assignment is expected to expose the young officer to administrative responsibilities in a region that continues to witness significant developmental activities and infrastructure expansion.

Ramoj Ramasth Hegde Gets Law and Order Responsibility in Amaravati

Another notable transfer is that of Ramoj Ramasth Hegde (IPS:2022:AP).

Earlier posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rajampet, he has now been appointed Officer on Special Duty (Law and Order), Amaravati.

The new role will involve assisting senior police officers in maintaining law and order in the state capital region while coordinating security arrangements and policing operations.

The posting is regarded as an important opportunity for gaining experience in policing one of the state’s most sensitive administrative zones.

Rohit Kumar Chaudhary Posted to Palnadu

The reshuffle also includes Rohit Kumar Chaudhary (IPS:2022:AP).

Serving as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Tadipatri, he has now been appointed Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration), Palnadu District.

Focus on Grooming the Next Generation of Police Leadership

Officials familiar with the exercise said the reshuffle has been designed to provide young IPS officers with broader administrative exposure while strengthening policing at the district level.

Assignments such as Officer on Special Duty and Additional Superintendent of Police allow officers to gain practical experience in personnel management, law and order planning, administrative supervision and inter-departmental coordination before taking on larger leadership roles.

The government has consistently followed a policy of rotating probationary and recently inducted IPS officers across different districts so they develop expertise in a wide range of policing environments.

Strengthening District-Level Policing

The latest transfer order also reflects the Andhra Pradesh Government’s continued emphasis on improving district administration through periodic cadre management.

By strategically deploying officers across law and order, administration and district policing assignments, the government aims to enhance operational efficiency while ensuring that young IPS officers acquire hands-on experience in handling complex policing responsibilities.

Officials believe such rotational postings not only strengthen institutional capacity but also prepare officers for higher leadership positions in the years ahead.

With the transfer orders taking immediate effect, all six officers are expected to assume charge of their new assignments without delay, reinforcing district-level policing and administrative coordination across Andhra Pradesh.
