Karnataka Government Reshuffles Top Bureaucracy, Appoints Latha R. as Housing Board Commissioner
In a fresh administrative shakeup rolling across state corridors, the Karnataka Government has officially reassigned nine senior bureaucrats to sharpen operational delivery across key departments. The administrative order, issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, covers eight Indian Administrative Service officers along with one Karnataka Administrative Service officer.
This strategic bureaucratic shuffle touches on vital state sectors, including urban infrastructure, housing, social welfare, agriculture, mineral exploration, and small industry development.
Among the most eye catching highlights of this latest reshuffle is the appointment of senior IAS officer Latha R. as the new Commissioner of the Karnataka Housing Board. Moving out from her previous role as Additional Commissioner (Development) in the Bengaluru North City Corporation, Latha R. now takes charge of one of the state’s main housing development bodies.
Simultaneously, the outgoing Housing Board chief, IAS officer Dayananda K. A., has been transferred to lead the Department of Backward Classes Welfare as its new Commissioner. To fill the void created in urban governance, IAS officer Mona Roat, who was previously awaiting a posting, steps in to replace Latha R. as Additional Commissioner in Bengaluru North.
The administrative order also resolves waiting status for several senior administrators by placing them in important institutional roles. IAS officer Krishna Bajpai, who was awaiting posting instructions, has been appointed Member of the Karnataka Appellate Tribunal in Bengaluru, taking over a critical judicial function.
In the public sector enterprise arena, IAS officer Archana M. S. takes charge as Managing Director of the Karnataka State Minerals Corporation Limited, while IAS officer Venkat Raja has been posted as Managing Director of the Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation to boost traditional weaving and artisan livelihoods.
Agricultural and rural economic portfolios also saw important leadership transitions under the new directives. IAS officer Venkatesh T., who was also awaiting instructions, moves in as the Director of the Department of Horticulture and National Horticulture Mission.
He replaces outgoing director Ibrahim Maigur, an IAS officer who has now been reassigned as Commissioner for Cane Development and Director of Sugar. Managing sugarcane administration is particularly crucial for Karnataka’s regional economy, making Maigur’s transition a vital piece of the overall administrative puzzle.
Rounding out the transfers, senior KAS officer Sayeeda Aisha transitions out of district level governance into state enterprise leadership. Previously serving as the Additional District Commissioner of Bengaluru Rural, Aisha has been appointed Managing Director of the Karnataka Small Industries Development Corporation.
By shifting experienced personnel into state utilities, urban corporations, and welfare departments, the state government aims to streamline administrative decision making and fast track key development projects across Karnataka.
