In a significant development, the Competent Authority has cleared the appointment of two IAS officers to important positions under the Government of India.
Mr M. Bharani Kumaar, IAS (SK:2013), has been appointed as Executive Director (Deputy Secretary level), Tea Board, Coonoor, on deputation basis under the Department of Commerce. He will serve for a period of four years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
IAS Kumar has been directed to be relieved of his current responsibilities immediately to take up the new assignment. As per the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines, conveyed in the DoPT circular dated August 17, 2005, officers must join their new postings within three weeks of the appointment order’s issue, failing which debarment proceedings will be initiated.
Separately, Mr Ratan Biswas, IAS (TR:2013), has been appointed as Director of Census Operations (DCO)/Director of Citizen Registration (OCR), Tripura, at the Deputy Secretary level, under the Central Staffing Scheme.
IAS Biswas’ tenure will continue until December 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He too is required to assume charge within three weeks of the DoPT’s appointment order, in line with ACC’s directives, to avoid debarment from the Central Staffing Scheme.
