IAS Officer Purva Garg’s Central Deputation Extended: AGMUT Cadre Officer to Continue as DCO/DCR at Deputy Secretary Level Until August 2028
The Central Government has formally approved the continuation of central deputation for an Indian Administrative Service officer serving under the Central Staffing Scheme. The decision relates to Ms. Purva Garg, an IAS officer of the 2015 batch from the AGMUT cadre, who is currently holding the position of Deputy Census Officer/Deputy Census Registrar (DCO/DCR) at the Deputy Secretary level in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, on an additional charge basis.
According to an official memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI), referenced as OM No. A-11011/1/2019-Ad-III dated 10 December 2025, the proposal seeking an extension of Ms. Garg’s central deputation tenure was placed before the competent authority for consideration.
After careful examination of administrative requirements and service conditions, the Competent Authority has accorded approval for extending Ms. Purva Garg’s deputation beyond its existing term. Her earlier deputation tenure, which was scheduled to conclude on 31 December 2025, has now been extended for a further period.
As per the approval, Ms. Garg will continue on central deputation up to 10 August 2028, or until further directions are issued by the Government, whichever occurs earlier. The extension applies to her assignment at the Deputy Secretary level and allows her to continue discharging her responsibilities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands without any break in service.
It is also noted that Ms. Purva Garg has been serving on central deputation with effect from 11 August 2025, and the approved extension ensures continuity of leadership and administrative oversight under the Central Staffing Scheme.
