Appointment of Mr Anand Mohan (IRTS:2012) as Joint Managing Director (Cooperation & IT), NAFED, New Delhi on Deputation Basis
The competent authority has approved the appointment of Mr Anand Mohan, a 2012-batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), to the post of Joint Managing Director (Cooperation & IT) in the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED), New Delhi. The appointment has been made at the Deputy Secretary/Director level, on deputation basis, under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DoAFW).
According to the order, Mr Mohan will hold this position for a tenure of four years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He has been directed to be relieved of his present duties immediately so as to enable him to take up his new assignment without delay.
This deputation-based appointment is classified as a non-Central Staffing Scheme (non-CSS) post. As Joint Managing Director (Cooperation & IT), Mr Mohan will play a critical role in strengthening NAFED’s digital transformation, cooperative development initiatives, and technology-driven interventions to enhance agricultural marketing, procurement, and farmer welfare mechanisms across the country.
The order also reiterates the standing directions of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), as conveyed in the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) Circular No. 3/4/2004-EO(MM-I) dated 17 August 2005, which mandates that an officer must join the post within three weeks from the date of issue of the DoPT’s appointment order. Failure to do so will result in the initiation of the debarment process from the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS), in line with established rules and procedures.
This appointment reflects the government’s continued emphasis on integrating cooperative institutions such as NAFED with modern IT systems to ensure greater efficiency, transparency, and farmer-centric service delivery.
