Senior IPS Officer Anant Kumar Singh Poised for Special DGP Role in Madhya Pradesh

Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Anant Kumar Singh is slated to assume the role of Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) in Madhya Pradesh upon the conclusion of his central deputation later this year, according to official sources.

Mr. Singh, a 1994-batch officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) in Delhi. His five-year tenure there is scheduled to end on December 23, 2025, after which he will return to his home cadre.

A Distinguished Career

An officer with a distinguished record, Mr. Singh brings a wealth of experience from both state and central postings. His career includes serving as Superintendent of Police in several key districts, such as Vidisha, Satna, and Bhopal, and a previous central deputation with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Filling a Senior Vacancy

Sources indicate that Mr. Singh is expected to succeed Special DG Pawan Kumar Srivastava (CID), who is due to retire on December 31, 2025. This transition will create an opportunity for the promotion of 1994-batch officers, pending the convening of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC).

While the appointment to the Special DGP position is imminent, the formal promotion of 1994-batch officers to the full Director General (DG) rank is subject to the forthcoming DPC proceedings.

Profile of an Accomplished Officer

An alumnus of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad with a degree in Mining Engineering, Mr. Singh has held numerous significant positions, including Inspector General in Jabalpur and roles in intelligence, planning, and the anti-corruption wing (Lokayukta). His central deputation included senior roles as DIG and IG in the CISF.

His exemplary service has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Police Medal for Gallantry, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

During his tenure at IOCL, Mr. Singh spearheaded a comprehensive modernization of the Vigilance department, driving digitalization, enhancing transparency, and implementing systemic reforms that significantly improved governance and public outreach.
