The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally cleared the appointment of Shri Aneesh Hegde, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 2014 batch, as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Railways, Shri V. Somanna.
As per the official order, Shri Hegde will serve in the Ministry of Railways at the level of Deputy Secretary. His tenure will be for a fixed period of four years, commencing from the date he formally assumes charge of the assignment.
The appointment will remain valid for the stipulated tenure or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until Shri Hegde ceases to function as OSD to the Minister, or until further orders are issued by the Government of India—whichever of these conditions occurs first.
The induction of a young and experienced railway officer into the ministerial office is expected to strengthen administrative coordination between the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, ensuring smoother policy implementation and faster decision-making.
