Cabinet Committee Approves Extension of Central Deputation Tenure of Shri Darpan Jain, IAS, as Joint Secretary in Department of Commerce
In a recent administrative decision, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department of Commerce for the extension of the central deputation tenure of Shri Darpan Jain, IAS (Karnataka Cadre, 2001 batch).
Shri Jain, who is presently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, will continue in his role for an additional period of one year beyond 19 February 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
This extension reflects the government’s emphasis on ensuring continuity in leadership within the Department of Commerce, which plays a pivotal role in shaping India’s trade policy, export promotion strategies, and international commercial relations.
By retaining Shri Jain in this position, the government seeks to strengthen institutional efficiency and policy execution in one of the country’s most critical economic ministries.
