The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally approved the proposal submitted by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to extend the additional charge of a key administrative position held by Shri P. Bala Kiran.

Shri P. Bala Kiran, a distinguished 2008-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, will continue to serve as the Secretary-cum-Controller of Examination (Joint Secretary Level) at the National Recruitment Agency (NRA). He currently holds the regular position of Joint Secretary within the DoPT.

Extension Details and Tenure

As per the official notification addressed to DoPT Secretary Ms. Rachna Shah, the extension is effective for a period of one year beyond January 21, 2026. The term will remain valid until:

The completion of the one-year extension;

The appointment of a regular incumbent to the post;

Further orders are issued by the government;

…whichever occurs the earliest.

Strategic Continuity for NRA

The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is a central body tasked with streamlining the recruitment process for various government posts through a Common Eligibility Test (CET). The decision to retain Shri Bala Kiran in this dual capacity is seen as a move to ensure administrative continuity and stability in the examination wing of the agency during a critical phase of its operational expansion.
