Uttar Pradesh has been adjudged the best state in the country as far as the film promotion is concerned and was given Rajat Kamal award. Principal secretary information & tourism UP, Mr. Avanish Awasthi recieved the award from President Pranab Mukhergee at a function at Vigyan Bhawan held recently. Placed in National Film category, this award has been given for providing special opportunities,financial assistance and infrastructural support to writes, actors and cultural experts. It was given following a recommendation made by a committee of experts set up for the purpose.
Speaking on the occasion , Mr Awasthi highlighted the state film policy and the role of Film Bandhu . The government, he said, has been providing funds for films shot in UP and for regional language films under this new policy. The State provides numerous opportunities for making films on mythology, spirituality and culture and producers have shown due interest in the state. Th Government has created a single window system for speedy disposal of applications.
The Yogi Government has taken some new initiatives to promote peace and harmony in the state and make Uttar pradesh a new film destination.
