Mr Brij Mohan Mishra and Mr Neeraj Kharwal Appointed to Key Leadership Roles in the Department of Commerce

In a recent move aimed at strengthening the leadership framework within the Department of Commerce, the government has appointed two senior IAS officers — Mr Brij Mohan Mishra and Mr Neeraj Kharwal — to pivotal positions. Both appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and will take effect upon assumption of charge.

Mr Brij Mohan Mishra, IAS (UT: 2008)
Mr Brij Mohan Mishra has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce. His tenure will last five years, up to November 16, 2026, or until further orders, whichever occurs first. He replaces Amitabh Kumar, IRS (C&IT: 1992), who previously held the position.

Mr Neeraj Kharwal, IAS (UD: 2007)
Mr Neeraj Kharwal has been designated as Managing Director (JS level) of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), an entity functioning under the Department of Commerce. He will serve in this capacity for five years or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.

These appointments underscore the government’s continued focus on enhancing administrative efficiency and trade promotion through experienced leadership in the commerce sector.
