In a recent administrative order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ms. Nitika Pawar, Indian Administrative Service (IAS), AGMUT Cadre, 2012 batch, to a senior position in the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

Ms. Pawar has been appointed on a lateral shift basis to the post of General Manager (Region) at the Deputy Secretary/Director level in the FCI Regional Office, Chandigarh (Punjab Region). The appointment has been made on deputation basis under the Department of Food and Public Distribution.

According to the order, her tenure in this role will be for a period of three years from the date of assuming charge of the post, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier. The directive further instructs that she be relieved of her current duties immediately so that she may take up her new assignment without delay.

It is noted that Ms. Nitika Pawar’s central deputation tenure commenced on 8 May 2023, and this latest appointment marks a continuation of her service under the Central Staffing Scheme.

The appointment of Ms. Pawar to this key position underscores the government’s emphasis on strengthening leadership within the Food Corporation of India, which plays a vital role in ensuring food security, managing procurement, and overseeing distribution across the country.

Her administrative expertise is expected to contribute significantly to the functioning of the Punjab Region, one of the most critical zones in India’s food supply chain.
