Centre Approves Bureaucratic Postings in Census Operations and School Education

The Government of India has cleared two key appointments under the Central Staffing Scheme, placing IAS officers in important administrative roles.

Swadha Dev Singh Appointed Director of Census Operations, New Delhi
The Competent Authority has approved the appointment of Ms. Swadha Dev Singh, IAS (OD:2014), as Director of Census Operations/Director of Citizen Registration (Deputy Secretary level) in the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India (RGI), Headquarters, New Delhi.

Her tenure will be effective from the date of assumption of charge and will continue up to December 31, 2025. It is further extendable as per the admissible tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme or until further orders, whichever is earlier. She has been directed to be relieved of her present duties immediately to take up the new assignment.

In line with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines, conveyed through the DoPT circular dated August 17, 2005, officers must assume charge within three weeks of the appointment order. Failing this, debarment proceedings under the Central Staffing Scheme shall be initiated.

Ira Singhal Appointed Deputy Secretary, School Education and Literacy
In a parallel development, Mrs. Ira Singhal, IAS, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India.

Her appointment is expected to strengthen the department’s efforts in advancing educational reforms, literacy programs, and school governance at the national level.
