In a move aimed at strengthening senior leadership across critical governance domains, the Central Government has cleared several high-level bureaucratic appointments.

IPS Anurag Agarwal Empanelled as Joint Secretary

Mr. Anurag Agarwal, a 1998-batch IPS officer of the Assam–Meghalaya cadre, has been empanelled for appointment as Joint Secretary or an equivalent post in the Government of India. His empanelment paves the way for a key role in national policymaking and high-level administrative leadership at the Union level.

K. Balaji Appointed Director, Ministry of Home Affairs

Mr. K. Balaji, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Positioned at the core of India’s internal security and governance apparatus, his new role is expected to contribute significantly to administrative reforms, security policymaking, and inter-state coordination.

Archana Mittal to Join NITI Aayog as Adviser

Ms. Archana Mittal, a senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), currently serving with Northern Railway, has been selected for deputation to NITI Aayog. She will serve as Adviser at the Joint Secretary level for a period of five years. Her appointment is expected to strengthen India’s apex policy think-tank, particularly in areas related to infrastructure, transport, manufacturing, and public–private partnerships.

These appointments underscore the government’s focus on deploying seasoned officers in pivotal roles to drive policy, coordination, and development in alignment with India’s long-term governance and strategic agenda.
