In a significant leadership transition, ADG (Special Armed Forces) Chanchal Shekhar (IPS 1995 batch) has been unanimously elected as the new President of the Madhya Pradesh IPS Association. The handover ceremony took place on Thursday, with outgoing president Ravi Kumar Gupta completing his two-year tenure.

Smooth Transition of Leadership

The election, which also saw the appointment of a new Executive Committee, reflected Shekhar’s strong standing as a respected police officer and administrator. Gupta formally passed the baton by presenting Shekhar with a bouquet, marking a seamless shift in leadership.

New Executive Committee Members

The association announced four key additions to its executive body:

Monica Shukla, DIG (Railway)

Rahul Lodha, SP (Railway)

Akhil Patel, DCP (Crime Branch, Bhopal)

Amit Singh, DCP (Indore)

Senior officers, including 7th Battalion Commandant Hitesh Chaudhary, IG Gwalior Arvind Saxena, DCP Riyaz Iqbal, and Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia, extended their congratulations to the new team.

Prioritizing Long-Pending IPS Concerns

Under Shekhar’s leadership, the association is set to revive discussions with the state government on critical unresolved issues. A major point of contention remains the practice of IAS officers writing confidential performance reports for IPS officers, a system that has long been debated for potential bias.

Sources indicate that Shekhar will soon lead a delegation to meet the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, seeking resolution on this and other pending demands that have seen little progress despite years of advocacy.

A Renewed Push for IPS Representation

With Shekhar at the helm, the association aims to strengthen dialogue with the state administration, push for systemic reforms, and amplify the concerns of the IPS cadre. Known for his strategic policing and administrative expertise, Shekhar’s leadership is expected to bring fresh momentum to the association’s efforts in safeguarding the interests of IPS officers across Madhya Pradesh.
