Senior IAS Officers Elevated to Key Roles in Health and Cooperation Ministries

Government of India elevates IAS officers Vijay Nehra and Siddharth Jain to Additional Secretary roles in Health and Cooperation ministries, reinforcing focus on healthcare reforms and cooperative growth.

The Government of India has announced the elevation of two senior IAS officers to the rank of Additional Secretary, strengthening leadership in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Cooperation.

Appointment of Shri Vijay Nehra

Shri Vijay Nehra, IAS (Gujarat cadre, 2001), who has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has now been elevated to the position of Additional Secretary in the same department.

The Department of Health & Family Welfare is central to India’s healthcare policy, overseeing programs related to public health, family welfare, disease control, and medical education. Nehra’s elevation ensures continuity in leadership and reflects recognition of his contributions to the ministry. As Additional Secretary, he will play a crucial role in advancing healthcare reforms, strengthening public health infrastructure, and supporting the government’s initiatives aimed at universal health coverage and improved medical services across the country.

Appointment of Shri Siddharth Jain

Shri Siddharth Jain, IAS (Andhra Pradesh cadre, 2001), who has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Cooperation, has now been elevated to the position of Additional Secretary in the same ministry.

The Ministry of Cooperation, established to give focused attention to India’s cooperative movement, plays a vital role in promoting cooperative societies, enhancing rural economic development, and empowering farmers and small entrepreneurs. Jain’s elevation underscores the importance of experienced leadership in strengthening cooperative institutions and advancing policies that align with the government’s vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation).

As Additional Secretary, he will be responsible for supporting reforms in cooperative governance, expanding the reach of cooperatives in agriculture and allied sectors, and ensuring that cooperative institutions contribute effectively to rural prosperity and inclusive growth.
