UP CM Dashboard Review: Raj Shekhar Directs Varanasi Officials to Achieve 100% Family ID Target, Speed Up Road Repairs

A detailed review meeting on development works being monitored through the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Dashboard was held at the Circuit House auditorium in Varanasi, with senior IAS officer Dr. Raj Shekhar reviewing the progress of key welfare schemes and development projects. The meeting focused on implementation, achievement of prescribed targets and the grading and ranking of physical progress under various categories of the Chief Minister Dashboard.

Dr. Raj Shekhar, a 2004-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, is serving as Secretary, Planning and Director General of Economics and Statistics, besides being the District Nodal Officer. During the review, he directed officials to take personal responsibility for improving the performance of their respective departments and ensuring that development targets are achieved within the stipulated timelines.

Several Development Schemes Reviewed

The meeting covered a broad range of schemes and projects listed under Categories B, C and D of the Chief Minister Dashboard. The review included the Jal Jeevan Mission (Rural), Family ID initiative, Fifth State Finance Commission at the Gram Panchayat level, Project Alankar, new road construction, the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme and Janani Suraksha Yojana.

Officials also reviewed the ICDS Nutrition Campaign and construction works being monitored through the CMIS under Category D. The review was not limited to the physical progress of projects, with officials also being asked to pay attention to the grading and ranking of the schemes on the dashboard.

Dr. Raj Shekhar stressed that officers should take personal interest in the implementation of the schemes under their respective departments. He called for close monitoring of targets so that gaps in performance could be identified and addressed within the required timeframe.

Jal Jeevan Mission Work to Follow Micro Plans

The implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (Rural) was among the major issues reviewed during the meeting. Dr. Raj Shekhar directed officials to ensure that works under the Har Ghar Nal Jal Yojana are completed within the scheduled timeframe and according to properly prepared micro plans.

He also emphasised the importance of keeping the official portal updated. Officials were instructed to ensure that monthly information concerning functional household tap connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission is continuously reflected on the portal.

The focus on regular data updates is intended to ensure that the reported progress of household tap connections remains current and that the implementation of the scheme can be monitored through the available official records.

Family ID Completion Target Set at 100%

The Family ID initiative was another key focus of the review meeting. According to the progress discussed during the meeting, Family ID coverage in the district had reached 88 percent.

Dr. Raj Shekhar directed officials to complete the remaining work and take the progress level to 100 percent. The instruction places emphasis on completing the outstanding Family ID work rather than allowing the current progress level to remain static.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme. Officials were directed to complete the necessary preparations promptly and ensure that the prescribed targets under the scheme are achieved within the stipulated period.

100% Payments Under Janani Suraksha Yojana

The implementation of the Janani Suraksha Yojana was also discussed during the review. Officials were instructed to ensure 100 percent payment under the scheme. bThe direction came as part of the broader review of welfare schemes under the Chief Minister Dashboard. Officials were asked to keep a close watch on implementation and ensure that the prescribed targets are achieved.

The meeting also examined the condition of roads in Varanasi, particularly in the context of damage caused by rain. Dr. Raj Shekhar directed officials to accelerate pothole removal and carry out the repairs required on damaged stretches.

Road Repair Campaign to Start From October 1

Road construction and repair received particular attention during the meeting. The construction, widening and strengthening of new roads being undertaken through the Public Works Department’s Construction and Provincial Divisions were reviewed as part of the development works under monitoring.

Dr. Raj Shekhar directed officials to identify and mark roads requiring repairs and begin a dedicated campaign from October 1. The campaign will focus on patchwork and special repairs on roads identified as requiring attention.

The Municipal Corporation was also instructed to speed up road repair work within its jurisdiction. The directions come against the backdrop of rain-related road damage and the need to address potholes and other repair requirements.

CMIS Data Must Be Updated Regularly

The review also focused on the monitoring of construction projects through the CMIS portal. Dr. Raj Shekhar stressed that departments must ensure timely and accurate updates of both the physical and financial progress of construction works.

He directed officials to regularly update construction-related information on the portal so that the progress of individual projects can be monitored accurately. The emphasis on timely data entry was linked to the broader dashboard-based system of tracking development works.

All departmental construction works were also directed to be completed by December. Departments were asked to closely monitor the progress of their respective projects and ensure that the prescribed timelines are not missed.

Fifth State Finance Commission and Other Projects Reviewed

The meeting also covered the Fifth State Finance Commission at the Gram Panchayat level, along with Project Alankar and new road construction. These projects were reviewed as part of the larger assessment of development works placed under the Chief Minister Dashboard.

The review mechanism covers different categories of projects and schemes, with the administration tracking their physical progress and corresponding grading and ranking. Dr. Raj Shekhar asked officers to focus on the actual achievement of targets and maintain regular oversight of the schemes under their charge.

The review therefore brought together welfare programmes, rural development initiatives, infrastructure projects and construction-related works on a common monitoring platform.

Senior District Officials Attend Meeting

The review meeting was attended by District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar, Chief Development Officer Prakhar Kumar Singh and officials from various departments. The participating officials were directed to closely monitor the schemes and development projects under their respective departments. They were also asked to ensure that the targets assigned to them are achieved within the prescribed timelines.

The instructions covered multiple areas, from Family ID completion and household tap connections to welfare payments, road repairs and construction projects. The overall emphasis was on timely execution, accurate reporting and closer monitoring of development works through the Chief Minister Dashboard.

With Family ID progress currently at 88 percent, officials have been tasked with taking it to 100 percent. At the same time, the road repair campaign is scheduled to begin on October 1, while departmental construction works have been given a December deadline, making the coming months important for the implementation and monitoring of these targets in Varanasi.
