Government Orders Curtailment of Central Tenure of IAS Officer Vibha Chahal (UP Cadre, 2012 Batch)

The Government of India has decided to curtail the tenure of Ms. Vibha Chahal, an officer of the Indian Administrative Service from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, 2012 batch, who is currently serving on central deputation. The decision has been taken by the competent authority as part of an administrative review under the applicable service and deputation norms.

According to official sources, the order brings Ms. Chahal’s ongoing central assignment to an earlier conclusion than originally approved. The curtailment of tenure has been effected in accordance with the provisions governing central staffing and deputation, and the officer is expected to be relieved from her present post to enable her repatriation to her parent cadre in Uttar Pradesh.

Such curtailments are typically undertaken in view of administrative requirements, cadre management considerations, or organizational priorities, and do not necessarily reflect on the performance or conduct of the officer concerned. The decision aligns with established procedures followed by the Department of Personnel and Training for managing central deputation tenures of All India Service officers.

Ms. Vibha Chahal, who belongs to the 2012 batch of the IAS, has held various responsibilities during her central posting, contributing to policy implementation and inter-ministerial coordination in her assigned role. Further details regarding the effective date of relief and the next posting of the officer are expected to be issued separately through formal communication.

The order underscores the government’s continued focus on dynamic cadre management and timely rotation of officers to meet evolving administrative and governance needs.
