Cabinet Panel Clears Two-Year Extension of Kapil Patidar’s Central Deputation as Director in Department of Economic Affairs
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has given its formal approval to extend the Central deputation tenure of Mr Kapil Patidar, an officer of the Indian Economic Service (IES), 2011 batch, who is currently serving as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs.
As per the decision, Mr Patidar’s deputation under the Central Staffing Scheme has been extended for an additional two-year period beyond 27 December 2025. The extension will now remain valid up to 27 December 2027, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier.
The proposal for the extension was initiated by the Department of Economic Affairs, citing administrative requirements and continuity of work. The approval by the ACC ensures that Mr Patidar will continue to contribute to key policy formulation and economic governance responsibilities handled by the Department.
Mr Kapil Patidar has been on central deputation since 28 December 2020, during which he has been entrusted with significant responsibilities within the Department of Economic Affairs, a core arm of the Ministry of Finance dealing with macroeconomic policy, fiscal management, and international economic relations.
The extension reflects the government’s confidence in his professional expertise and the need for experienced officers in senior policy-making roles at the Centre.
