Citizen-Centric Model to Focus on Women’s Safety, Cyber Crime, Tech Integration, and Welfare Measures
In a landmark initiative aimed at transforming policing in Uttar Pradesh, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna has launched a comprehensive reform plan, appointing 21 IPS officers to lead changes across 10 critical focus areas. This reform strategy is designed to modernize policing, enhance public trust, and introduce accountability at every level—from constables to ADGs.
Dual-Leadership Model for Reforms
To ensure balanced implementation, each reform domain will be jointly led by two officers—one from field operations and one from police headquarters. This will allow both ground-level experience and institutional insight to shape actionable outcomes.
One-Month Timeline for Evaluation and Recommendations
The officers have been given one month to assess their assigned areas and submit detailed recommendations to the DGP. These reports will become the foundation for the long-term policing reform roadmap.
“This is a reform model that aligns roles with officers’ passion and experience,” said DGP Rajeev Krishna, adding that the process includes inputs from constables to ADGs, marking an unprecedented level of inclusivity.
Victim-Centered, Inclusive Approach
Unlike conventional top-down methods, this reform drive actively involves all ranks of police personnel and incorporates direct feedback from citizens, especially crime victims and women. The goal is to develop solutions rooted in on-ground realities.
Formal Kickoff on Monday
The initiative will formally commence with the first round of presentations by assigned officers scheduled for Monday.

Legal and Budgetary Backing for Reform
DGP Krishna has clarified that if any proposed reforms require changes in legislation, policy, or budget, detailed proposals must be submitted for government consideration.
“No idea will be dismissed, and no necessary change will be delayed,” he assured.

This initiative marks a major shift toward participative governance in policing. By empowering officers to take charge of areas that match their expertise and by integrating real-time feedback from the public and police personnel, the UP Police aims to create a modern, responsive, and people-first law enforcement system.
