Centre Extends Deputation Tenure of IAS Officer Swadha Dev Singh at Registrar General of India Till March 2030

The competent authority has granted approval for a substantial extension in the deputation tenure of Ms. Swadha Dev Singh, a 2014-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Odisha cadre, currently serving at the level of Deputy Secretary in the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI), Headquarters, New Delhi.

As per the approved proposal, Ms. Singh’s deputation, which was scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2025, has now been extended for a further period, allowing her to continue in her present assignment until March 31, 2030. The extension has been sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the Central Staffing Scheme, under which deputation tenures may be continued up to the maximum admissible period.

Official sources clarified that the approved extension remains subject to standard conditions, meaning it may be further continued up to the permissible limit under the Central Staffing Scheme or curtailed earlier if required, depending on administrative exigencies or further orders issued by the government.

In her current role as DCO/DCR (Deputy Secretary-level officer) at the Office of the Registrar General of India, Ms. Swadha Dev Singh is associated with key national-level administrative and statistical functions, including oversight of census-related operations, population data management, civil registration systems, and policy coordination at the central level.

The decision to extend her deputation tenure reflects the government’s assessment of her performance and the importance of continuity in senior-level administrative and technical roles within the RGI, an institution that plays a critical role in demographic data collection and analysis for policymaking and governance.

The extension order will remain effective until March 31, 2030, or until further instructions are issued by the competent authority, whichever occurs earlier.
