Deputy Secretary Post in Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Re-designated as Director for Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, Till August 2030

The Government of India has approved a significant administrative decision involving senior IAS officer Mr Vikram Singh Malik (AGMUT Cadre: 2012). Acting on a proposal received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), through the Office of the Establishment Officer, has sanctioned the re-designation of the post presently held by him.

As per the decision of the Competent Authority, the position of Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which Mr Malik is currently occupying, has been formally upgraded and re-designated as Director. This elevation has been granted as a personal measure to the officer, reflecting recognition of his responsibilities and role within the Ministry.

The re-designation shall take effect from the date on which Mr Vikram Singh Malik formally assumes charge of the upgraded post, and will remain valid up to 28 August 2030. This period corresponds to the maximum permissible five-year tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme.

It has also been clarified that Mr Malik’s central deputation tenure commenced on 29 August 2025, and the upgraded Director-level position will form part of his approved central staffing tenure.

The decision has been taken to ensure continuity, administrative stability, and effective supervision of critical functions within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
