Tax Leadership Strengthened With Elevation of 46 IRS Officers to Principal Commissioner Rank

The promoted officers, who will assume charge with immediate effect upon notification, bring extensive experience and are expected to play crucial roles in policy execution, revenue enhancement, and ongoing tax reforms.

The following officers have been empanelled for promotion to Level 15 of the pay matrix:

This strategic elevation is anticipated to bolster the operational capabilities of the Income Tax Department, particularly in domains such as direct tax enforcement, taxpayer services, and digital infrastructure modernization. The newly appointed Principal Commissioners will be instrumental in advancing the government’s agenda for a transparent, efficient, and taxpayer-friendly administration.

The ACC, however, did not approve the empanelment of Ms. AS Bindhu for promotion to PCIT in the current panel year. Additionally, the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) recommendations for the following officers have been placed in a sealed cover, pending requisite vigilance or legal clearances:

  • Mr. Arun Kr Tiwari

  • Mr. Ajay Chandra

  • Mr. Amrish Bedi

  • Mr. Anil Kumar P Chaware

  • Mr. Ajai Pratap Singh

Furthermore, Mr. Praveen Kishore was not considered for promotion, while the empanelment of Ms. Kusum has been deferred for 2025.
