The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of Mr DS Karanth for promotion to the grade of Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS – Customs & Central Excise), for the panel year 2000–01.
The decision signifies formal inclusion of Mr Karanth’s name in the approved panel for promotion to this senior grade within the IRS, which deals with the administration of customs duties, central excise, and indirect taxation matters under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.
As per procedure, necessary communication regarding this empanelment has already been conveyed to the Department of Revenue for further necessary action in accordance with extant rules and guidelines governing promotions to higher grades in the service.
