Gujarat Gas Limited Appoints Senior IAS Officer Ashwini Kumar as Additional Director and Promoter-Nominee to Strengthen Board Leadership

In a significant development aimed at reinforcing its corporate leadership, Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL), a flagship company of the GSPC Group and a Government of Gujarat undertaking, has announced the appointment of Mr. Ashwini Kumar, IAS (Gujarat Cadre, 1990 batch), as an Additional Director on its Board. The appointment, effective January 27, 2026, was formally approved by the company’s Board of Directors and disclosed in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Mr. Kumar, who currently serves as Principal Secretary, Energy & Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat, has been designated as a Promoter-Nominee Director. His induction follows a formal nomination communicated through an official letter issued by the Government of Gujarat (Reference No. EPCD/0454/01/2026).

The nomination of Mr. Ashwini Kumar underscores the Government of Gujarat’s continued involvement in the strategic leadership of Gujarat Gas Limited. Mr. Ashwini Kumar is a seasoned bureaucrat with nearly three decades of experience in public administration and governance. His distinguished career includes:

District-level administration and secretariat policy roles across Gujarat.

Leadership positions in public sector undertakings and statutory bodies, contributing to institutional growth and governance.

Policy formulation and programme implementation in diverse sectors including energy, infrastructure, and urban development.

Institutional governance and public finance management, ensuring transparency and efficiency in government operations.

Currently serving as Principal Secretary, Energy & Petrochemicals Department, Mr. Kumar has previously held several key assignments such as:

Principal Secretary, Sports, Art, Culture & Youth Affairs Department

Secretary to the Chief Minister of Gujarat, a role he held for over five years, providing strategic administrative support at the highest level of state governance.

GGL clarified that none of the existing directors on its Board are related to Mr. Kumar. The disclosure regarding his appointment has been duly filed with both BSE Limited (Scrip Code: 539336) and the National Stock Exchange of India (Symbol: GUJGASLTD), in compliance with the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
