Haryana: Amneet P Kumar & Aditya Dahiya Appointed to State’s ‘Department of Future’

In a noteworthy development on May 1, 2025 — coinciding with International Labour Day — the Haryana government unveiled a new administrative entity titled the Department of Future, signaling a forward-looking governance initiative.

As per an official notification, two senior IAS officers have been appointed to key positions in this newly established department. Amneet P Kumar, a 2001-batch IAS officer of the Haryana cadre, has been named Commissioner and Secretary of the Department of Future. Meanwhile, Dr. Aditya Dahiya, from the 2011 batch of the same cadre, has been appointed as Director.

Both officers will take on these roles in addition to their current assignments. Mr. Kumar continues to serve as Commissioner and Secretary in the Departments of Fisheries and Archives, while Dr. Dahiya holds the post of Special Secretary in the Departments of Personnel and Training, and Parliamentary Affairs.

The creation of the Department of Future has generated considerable interest and speculation within bureaucratic circles, particularly around its strategic vision, operational framework, and policy objectives. As of now, further details on the department’s scope and functions are awaited.
