In a significant administrative development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the central deputation tenure of Shri Lalit Jain, Indian Administrative Service (Himachal Pradesh Cadre, 2011 batch). Shri Jain is presently serving as Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) in Haryana under the Central Staffing Scheme.

According to the official order, his tenure has been extended beyond 6 December 2026 and up to 6 December 2028, or until further instructions are issued, whichever is earlier. This decision ensures continuity in leadership for critical functions related to census management and citizen registration in the state.

Shri Lalit Jain has been on central deputation since 7 December 2023, and his extended tenure reflects the government’s emphasis on experienced administrative oversight in the execution of nationwide census operations and citizen registration frameworks. The order was issued by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, underscoring the importance of sustained institutional efficiency in these vital demographic and governance-related functions.

This extension highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening the administrative machinery in Haryana, particularly in areas that directly impact population data management, citizen documentation, and policy planning.
