The Haryana government has carried out a large-scale reshuffle in the state bureaucracy, transferring 20 IAS officers and giving several of them additional responsibilities. This major realignment is aimed at improving governance and making different departments work more efficiently. The move also comes soon after the last round of transfers held on November 22.
Important Officers Shifted to New Assignments
A number of senior officials have been moved to new roles:
Arun Kumar Gupta, a 1992-batch IAS officer and currently the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, has now been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Urban Local Bodies Department.
Vijay Kumar Dahiya from the 2001 batch will now also serve as Commissioner/Secretary of the Sports Department, while continuing his existing responsibilities in the Animal Husbandry Department.
Amit Kumar Agarwal, a 2003-batch IAS officer, has been given extra duties as Commissioner/Secretary in the Heritage and Tourism Department along with his present role in the Information, Public Relations, and Culture Department.
Other Key Officers Also Reassigned
Several more experienced officers have been shifted to positions of significant responsibility:
Phool Chand Meena (2004 batch), Commissioner and Secretary of Human Resources, will additionally serve as CEO of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).
J Ganesan, who leads Housing for All and FMDA, will now also be MD of HARTRON and MD of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam.
Ashok Kumar Meena, Director General of Development & Panchayats, has been reassigned as Director General of Urban Local Bodies and Director General of Foreign Cooperation.
Pankaj, Director General of Supplies & Disposals, will also function as Secretary of Personnel, Training & Parliamentary Affairs, and serve as Inquiry Officer in Vigilance.
Pardeep Kumar, Member Secretary of the Pollution Control Board, will become Director of State Transport.
Parth Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Yamunanagar, will now work as Director of Sports and MD of Haryana Tourism Corporation.
Sangeeta Tetarwal, CEO of Ayushman Bharat Haryana Health Protection Authority, has been appointed Director of New and Renewable Energy.
Anish Yadav, DC of Hisar, has been moved to the Director, Development & Panchayats post, while Mahender Pal, formerly MD of HARTRON, has been appointed the new DC of Hisar.
Vikram Yadav, DC Faridabad, is now MD of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited.
Ayush Sinha has been appointed the new DC of Faridabad.
Pradeep Singh, Additional DC of Nuh, has been made Commissioner of Manesar Municipal Corporation.
Preeti, DC of Kaithal, has now been shifted as DC of Yamunanagar.
Aparajita, Mission Director of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), has been appointed the new DC of Kaithal.
Purpose Behind the New Postings
According to the state government, this reshuffle aims to:
Improve the overall functioning of different state departments
Place officers with strong performance records in key positions
Strengthen accountability and ensure effective governance in important sectors such as urban development, tourism, sports, and public services
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that the newly assigned roles and additional duties are meant to create a more responsive and efficient administrative structure that benefits the people of Haryana.
