In a noteworthy display of accountability and appreciation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta, an IPS officer from the 2021 Haryana cadre, felicitated traffic police personnel who unknowingly stopped her vehicle during a drink-and-drive check and requested her to take a breathalyzer test.

Surprise Inspection to Assess Police Alertness

DCP Gupta, dressed in civilian attire and traveling in a private vehicle, conducted a surprise inspection on Sunday to evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing anti-drunk driving measures in Panchkula. The officers manning the checkpoint, unaware of her identity, acted strictly as per protocol and insisted on conducting the alco-sensor test.

Impressed by their professionalism and impartiality, Gupta later invited the team to her office in Sector 1, where she held a felicitation ceremony to honour their conduct.

Officers Awarded for Integrity and Vigilance

During the ceremony, DCP Gupta presented letters of appreciation and cash rewards to the officers involved. She commended them for executing their duties with integrity, undeterred by rank or status.

Two Special Police Officers (SPOs)—Dharamveer and Surjeet Singh—were also recognized for their swift action at a checkpoint, where they intercepted a vehicle smuggling illegal liquor. Their prompt response led to the seizure of contraband and the detention of offenders, earning them praise for exemplary field performance.

Home Guards Recognized for Campaign Contribution

Home Guards Praveen Kumar, Kishan Singh, and Mohit Kumar were also applauded for their active participation in the anti-drunk driving initiative. Their efforts in issuing challans and maintaining discipline during the campaign were highlighted as crucial to its success.

“These officers have shown what true vigilance and commitment to public safety look like,” said DCP Gupta.

Public Urged to Report Misconduct, Corruption

To promote transparency and accountability, DCP Gupta also appealed to citizens to report any instances of police misconduct or corruption. She encouraged the public to reach out to her directly via phone or WhatsApp at 81466-30005, assuring that all information shared would remain confidential.

“Public participation is essential in ensuring clean and responsive policing,” she emphasized.
