Central Deputation: IAS Pushpendra Rajput Granted One-Year Extension as Joint Secretary in Health Ministry
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has officially sanctioned a one-year prolongation of the central deputation for IAS officer Pushpendra Rajput. A distinguished member of the 1999 Himachal Pradesh cadre, Mr. Rajput will continue his strategic role as Joint Secretary within the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
According to a formal directive released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on February 6, 2026, this extension is slated to commence following the conclusion of his previous term on November 29, 2025. The revised mandate ensures his presence in the ministry for an additional year or until subsequent instructions are provided by the government, whichever occurs first.
This administrative decision was reached after the Department of Health and Family Welfare submitted a formal proposal, citing an office memorandum from mid-January 2026. The move underscores the government’s intent to maintain administrative stability within the ministry, where Mr. Rajput oversees vital policy frameworks and essential national health initiatives that require seamless inter-ministerial cooperation.
The official notification, signed by DoPT Director Sakshi Mittal, has been disseminated to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the Himachal Pradesh state government.
By retaining a seasoned officer of his caliber, the ACC has signaled a commitment to policy momentum, ensuring that his extensive experience remains at the forefront of India’s public health administration during this critical period.
