In a recent administrative reshuffle, the West Bengal government has assigned IAS officer Raju Mishra (2015 batch, WB cadre) a key role as Special Secretary in the Department of Industry, Commerce & Enterprises.

Prior to this appointment, Mishra held two significant positions simultaneously—Commissioner of the Asansol Municipal Corporation and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA). His dual responsibilities involved overseeing urban governance and developmental initiatives in the Asansol-Durgapur industrial region, a crucial economic hub in the state.

Transition to a Strategic Role in Industry & Commerce

With his new assignment, Mishra will now play a pivotal role in shaping industrial policies, trade facilitation, and enterprise development in West Bengal. His extensive administrative experience, particularly in urban and industrial development, is expected to bring valuable insights to the department.

This move underscores the state government’s focus on strengthening industrial growth and economic governance by deploying experienced officers in key positions. Mishra’s transition from municipal and regional development administration to a broader industry-focused role highlights his versatility and the administration’s confidence in his leadership.

The appointment is part of West Bengal’s ongoing efforts to enhance bureaucratic efficiency and drive industrial progress in the state.
