Civil Services 2023: Cadre Allocation Highlights Shifts for IPS Aspirants Across States

The Central Government has released the cadre allocation for Indian Police Service (IPS) officers selected through the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023. In accordance with Rule 5(1) of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, the latest allocation reflects the Centre’s ongoing strategy of balanced inter-state placements.

As part of the 2023 batch, five candidates have been allotted the Gujarat cadre, while four candidates originally from Gujarat have been posted to various North Eastern state cadres—reinforcing the Union Government’s policy of ensuring equitable regional representation.
