The 1982 batch IAS offier of Tamil Nadu cadre, K. Gnanadesikan has been appointed as new Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. Prior to this he was serving as Chairman & Managing Director of teh Tamil NAdu Generation & Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO).
He replaces Mohan Verghese Chunkath who held the post since April this year. Gnanadesikan held various positions in the State government including Finance Secretary (2005-2010) and Home Secretary (2010-2011). Mr Chunkath has been sent to the Anna Institute of Management as the Additional Chief Secretary/Director.
