Kerala IAS Reshuffle: Award-Winning Collector Arjun Pandian Transferred, Sikha Surendran Takes Charge in Thrissur
The Kerala government has announced a major reshuffle in its administrative ranks, bringing new leadership to two key districts. The General Administration (AIS) Department issued orders transferring IAS officers Arjun Pandian and Sikha Surendran, appointing them as District Collectors of Kasaragod and Thrissur respectively.
Arjun Pandian Moves to Kasaragod
Arjun Pandian, a 2017-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has been shifted from his role as District Collector of Thrissur to become the new District Collector of Kasaragod. He replaces Inbasekar K, who has been reassigned.
Pandian’s connection to grassroots institutions like anganwadis is deeply personal—his mother has served as an anganwadi worker for 26 years in the hilly Idukki district. Drawing inspiration from this, Pandian launched a major initiative in 2024 to revamp anganwadis in Thrissur, turning many into vibrant community hubs with upgraded infrastructure and libraries. His efforts earned him the Best District Collector Award under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, presented by the Women and Child Development Department earlier this month.
Sikha Surendran Takes Charge in Thrissur
Sikha Surendran, a 2018-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has been appointed as the new District Collector of Thrissur. A native of Ernakulam, she holds a Civil Engineering degree from M.A. College of Engineering.
Before this posting, Surendran served as Director of Tourism, where she spearheaded several initiatives to promote Kerala’s tourism sector. Over the years, she has held multiple important administrative positions, earning recognition for her efficiency and strong engagement at the grassroots level.
Strengthening District Governance
With Pandian and Surendran stepping into their new roles, both districts are expected to benefit from their distinct experiences and people-centric approaches. The reshuffle signals Kerala’s intent to strengthen district-level governance and ensure effective delivery of public services.
