Centre Announces Key Bureaucratic Moves: Purna Chandra Kishan Repatriated, Brajesh Tripathy’s Tenure Extended at Coal India

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued a fresh set of high-level administrative orders involving officer repatriations, new central deputations, and tenure extensions across ministries and public sector undertakings (PSUs).

In a significant appointment,  IAS officer Purna Chandra Kishan has been repatriated to Rajasthan cadre.

Senior IAS officer Purna Chandra Kishan (IAS:2005:RJ), who has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent Rajasthan cadre citing personal reasons.

An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, where he earned a B.Tech degree, Mr. Kishan is known for his strong policy formulation skills and extensive administrative experience across multiple sectors.

Fluent in English, Hindi, and Odia, the 1974-born officer has contributed to several central agricultural reform and welfare initiatives during his tenure at the Centre.

Brajesh Kumar Tripathy’s Tenure Extended as CVO, Coal India Limited

In another key decision, the government has extended the tenure of Brajesh Kumar Tripathy (IRSE:1998) as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Coal India Limited (CIL), Kolkata, for an additional two years, up to November 15, 2027.

Officials noted that Tripathy’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening vigilance systems, anti-corruption frameworks, and compliance standards within one of India’s largest public sector enterprises.

Administrative Realignment for Greater Efficiency

According to the DoPT, these postings and extensions are part of the government’s routine cadre management exercise to ensure optimal officer utilization across ministries and PSUs.

The decisions underline the Centre’s continued focus on institutional transparency, sectoral efficiency, and balanced deployment of senior administrative talent across strategic domains like agriculture, infrastructure, and maritime affairs.
