A significant reshuffle of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre is expected in Madhya Pradesh, with the state government reportedly finalizing a transfer list that places particular emphasis on district collectors and chief executive officers (CEOs) of Zila Panchayats. The list, which had been temporarily withheld due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhar, is now under active consideration and is likely to be released soon.
Collectors with Long Tenures in Focus
According to senior officials, the impending reshuffle will primarily affect district collectors who have served extended terms in their present postings. Among those expected to be shifted is Priyank Mishra, a 2013-batch IAS officer currently serving as Collector of Dhar—a development viewed as significant in the wake of the Prime Minister’s recent high-profile visit to the district.
Changes Anticipated in Zila Panchayat CEOs
The shake-up is also expected to cover CEOs of Zila Panchayats, particularly in districts where development indicators have stagnated or where field-level implementation of government schemes has been found wanting. The move signals the government’s intent to strengthen grassroots governance through fresh leadership.
Performance-Driven Transfers
Sources indicate that performance will be the key determinant in the reshuffle. Officers who have failed to deliver on flagship programs or have not met government benchmarks may be replaced. The exercise is being positioned as part of a broader push towards greater accountability and efficiency in district administration.
Senior Bureaucrats May Also Be Impacted
Beyond the district level, changes are also expected among Principal Secretaries and Heads of Departments (HoDs). These adjustments, sources suggest, are aimed at realigning the state’s administrative apparatus with evolving governance priorities.
Final Approval Rests with CM Mohan Yadav
The draft transfer list has reportedly been drawn up under the supervision of Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer. However, the final call will rest with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who is expected to review the recommendations and give his approval shortly.
