The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the appointment of Manu Maharaj (IPS: 2005: BH) and Kori Sanjay Kumar Gurudin (IPS: 2005: KL) as Inspector Generals (IG) in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Both officers were previously serving as Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) within the same force.
According to an official order issued by the MHA on Tuesday, the appointments will come into effect from the date the officers assume charge of their new roles. Upon taking charge, their deputation tenures will be governed by the provisions outlined in para 5.1 (ii) of the IPS Tenure Policy.
These promotions follow the empanelment of both officers on May 10, 2025, along with 18 other IPS officers from the 2005 batch, for appointments to IG-level posts in the Government of India.
The elevation of these officers highlights the Government’s continued emphasis on bolstering leadership within the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)—particularly in the ITBP, a strategically vital force responsible for guarding India’s border with China across the challenging Himalayan terrain.
