A group of 11 IAS officers-in-training met Meghalaya Governor C. H. Vijayashankar at Lok Bhavan in Shillong on February 27 to discuss governance, public service delivery, and the state’s development priorities.
The interaction focused on strengthening administrative accountability and promoting citizen-centric governance across Meghalaya.
Governor Emphasises Transparency and Accountability
During the meeting, the Governor highlighted the crucial role of civil servants in ensuring a transparent, responsive, and accountable administration.
“The pivotal role of civil servants is to ensure transparent, accountable, and citizen-centric administration,” he said, urging the young officers to uphold integrity, dedication, and professionalism in public service.
Stress on Inclusive and Sustainable Development
Referring to Meghalaya’s unique socio-cultural landscape, C. H. Vijayashankar stressed the importance of collaborative governance.
He noted that the state’s development aspirations require coordinated efforts between the administration and various stakeholders to achieve inclusive growth and sustainable progress.
The Governor encouraged the trainees to understand local contexts, engage with communities, and adopt participatory approaches in governance.
