ACC Approves Six-Month Additional Charge of CMPFO Commissioner to IRTS Officer Sajeesh Kumar N Under Ministry of Coal
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally approved a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Coal for assigning additional responsibilities relating to a senior statutory position within the coal sector administration.
As per the sanctioned decision, Shri Sajeesh Kumar N, IRTS (2002 batch) — who is currently serving as Coal Controller in the Coal Controller Organisation under the Ministry of Coal — has been entrusted with additional charge of the post of Commissioner (Joint Secretary level) in the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO).
The additional charge assignment has been approved for an initial tenure of six months, which shall come into effect from November 1, 2025.
The continuation of this temporary appointment will remain valid either until a regular incumbent is formally appointed to the post, or until further directives are issued by the Government of India, or until the completion of the sanctioned six-month period — whichever of these occurs first.
This interim arrangement has been put in place to ensure uninterrupted leadership and administrative continuity within CMPFO, which plays a critical role in managing provident fund, pension, and social security benefits for coal sector employees across the country.
The move is also aimed at maintaining regulatory stability and facilitating smooth functioning of coal-linked welfare mechanisms during the ongoing phase of sectoral restructuring and governance reforms.
