IRS Officer Swapna Devireddy Repatriated to Parent Cadre from Jal Shakti Ministry on Personal Grounds

The Government of India has cleared the early repatriation of Swapna Devireddy, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax cadre, 2010 batch), from her current posting as Director in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation back to her parent cadre.

The approval was conveyed through an official memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, which serves as the central authority responsible for personnel management within the Government of India.

Early Repatriation Cleared for Personal Reasons

As stated in the memorandum released by the Office of the Establishment Officer, the competent authority has sanctioned Devireddy’s request for premature repatriation citing personal circumstances.

Following this decision, she has been instructed to relinquish her current responsibilities at the earliest and report back to her original cadre without delay.

The repatriation order has been granted with the condition of an “extended cooling-off” period. This provision determines the duration that an officer must remain in their parent service before becoming eligible for any future deputation to the central government.

Responsibilities in the Department

During her tenure, Swapna Devireddy held the position of Director in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, a key division functioning under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The department is responsible for implementing and supervising major national initiatives focused on improving rural drinking water availability and sanitation infrastructure across the country.

Official Communication Issued

The formal Office Memorandum announcing the decision was issued from Kartavya Bhawan in New Delhi by Annies Kanmani Joy, who serves as Director (MM) in the Department of Personnel and Training.

Copies of the communication have also been circulated to the Cabinet Secretariat and other concerned authorities for their information and for carrying out the necessary administrative procedures.
