MP Transfers 8 IAS Officers in Major Administrative Reshuffle; New Collectors Posted in Shahdol, Chhatarpur & Balaghat
The Madhya Pradesh government has carried out another significant administrative reshuffle, transferring eight IAS officers and making several important changes across key departments and district administrations. The latest exercise includes the appointment of new Collectors in Shahdol, Chhatarpur and Balaghat, besides fresh responsibilities for senior bureaucrats in urban development, skill development, food and civil supplies, technical education and general administration.
One of the most talked-about changes in the reshuffle involves 2016-batch IAS officer Misha Singh, whose earlier posting as Collector of Shahdol has now been revised. Instead of taking charge in the district, she has been posted to Bhopal after reportedly requesting a transfer to the state capital due to personal circumstances. The revised order has triggered a fresh round of administrative changes, leading to the appointment of a new Collector in Shahdol and a chain of transfers affecting multiple districts.
The transfer order, issued by the state government, reflects its continued efforts to reposition experienced officers in strategic assignments while ensuring that administrative responsibilities across districts and departments remain aligned with governance priorities. Apart from district-level leadership changes, the reshuffle also strengthens departments dealing with urban development, skill development, employment generation, food security and policy planning.
Revised Order Changes Misha Singh’s Posting
The latest notification supersedes an order issued just two days earlier. Under the previous posting, Misha Singh (IAS: 2016) had been appointed as the new Collector of Shahdol. Before she could assume charge, however, the government issued a revised order assigning her to a different responsibility.
She has now been appointed as Additional Commissioner in the Urban Development and Housing Department, Bhopal. According to reports, Misha Singh, who is expecting a child, had requested the government to consider a posting either in Bhopal or Indore. The state government subsequently modified her assignment and accommodated her in the state capital.
The revision not only altered her own posting but also set off a fresh chain of district-level appointments. As a result, another senior IAS officer has now been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Shahdol district administration.
Three Districts Receive New Collectors
The reshuffle has resulted in fresh leadership for three important districts of Madhya Pradesh, with experienced IAS officers being assigned to head district administrations.
Parth Jaiswal, a 2015-batch IAS officer, has been transferred from his position as Collector of Chhatarpur and appointed as the new Collector of Shahdol. His experience in district administration is expected to support governance and development initiatives in Shahdol.
Following his transfer, Mrinal Meena, also a 2015-batch IAS officer, has been shifted from Collector, Balaghat, to take over as the new Collector of Chhatarpur. The posting continues the chain of administrative changes initiated through the revised transfer order.
Meanwhile, Kumar Satyam, an IAS officer of the 2017 batch, has been appointed as the new Collector of Balaghat. With this appointment, all three districts now have new administrative leadership as part of the state’s latest reshuffle.
District Collectors play a central role in implementing government schemes, maintaining law and order, supervising development projects and coordinating with various departments. The appointment of new officers is therefore expected to influence administrative priorities and project execution at the district level.
Skill Development Department Gets New Leadership
The reshuffle has also brought important changes in the Skill Development Department, reflecting the government’s continued emphasis on employment generation and workforce development.
Aditi Garg (IAS: 2015) has been relieved from her responsibilities as Collector of Mandsaur and appointed as the Project Director of the Madhya Pradesh Skill Development Project. Along with this assignment, she has also been given the additional responsibility of Chief Executive Officer of the State Skill Development and Employment Generation Board.
Her new role places her at the centre of the state’s efforts to strengthen skill training programmes, improve employability and expand opportunities for youth through government-supported initiatives.
At the same time, Girish Sharma, who was serving as the Project Director of the Madhya Pradesh Skill Development Project, has been transferred as Additional Secretary in the Technical Education, Skill Development and Employment Department. His administrative experience is expected to contribute to policy implementation and institutional coordination in the department.
Food and Civil Supplies Department Sees Administrative Changes
The government has also reassigned 2011-batch IAS officer Dinesh Jain, who was serving as Additional Secretary in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
Under the new order, he has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty-cum-Director in the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department. Alongside this responsibility, he will continue to serve as Additional Secretary in the Food, Civil Supplies Department.
The dual assignment is expected to strengthen administrative coordination in one of the state’s most important public service departments, particularly in areas relating to food distribution, consumer protection and implementation of welfare programmes.
General Administration Department Receives New Deputy Secretary
Another notable change involves Ankit Asthana, who has been shifted from the Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Department to the General Administration Department.
He will now serve as Deputy Secretary in the department while also holding the additional charge of Director, Employee Selection Board. The Employee Selection Board plays an important role in conducting recruitment processes for various government posts, making the additional responsibility particularly significant.
The transfer is expected to strengthen administrative coordination between personnel management and recruitment functions within the state government.
Additional Responsibilities for Swarochish Somvanshi
The state government has also entrusted Swarochish Somvanshi with additional responsibilities while allowing him to continue in his existing assignment.
He will continue as Commissioner, Economics and Statistics, while simultaneously taking charge as Secretary of the State Planning Commission and Director of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis until further orders.
The responsibility of Director of the institute was previously held by Rishi Garg, who serves as the Managing Director of the Central Region Power Distribution Company.
The additional assignments are expected to strengthen policy planning, governance research and institutional coordination within the state administration.
Administrative Reshuffle Reflects Governance Priorities
Frequent administrative reshuffles are a routine part of governance in large states such as Madhya Pradesh.
