Mr. Neeraj Mittal, a senior IAS officer from the 1992 batch of the Tamil Nadu cadre and currently serving as Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications, has been entrusted with additional responsibilities as Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
This temporary appointment follows an official order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued on Friday, July 18, 2025. The competent authority has approved Mr. Mittal’s additional charge from July 20 to July 24, 2025, during the absence of Mr. Chanchal Kumar, the current Secretary of DoNER and a 1992-batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, who is on leave.
Mr. Mittal, recognized for his leadership in digital governance, telecom policy, and public service reform, is expected to help maintain the ministry’s momentum on developmental initiatives in the North Eastern states during his short tenure.
