Niraj Verma, IAS, Given Additional Charge as Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs During Leave of Nikunja Bihari Dhal

The Central Government has formally sanctioned the entrustment of additional responsibilities of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to Mr Niraj Verma, IAS (Assam–Meghalaya Cadre: 1994). The approval has been granted by the Competent Authority in view of the temporary vacancy arising in the Ministry.

Mr Niraj Verma, who is presently serving as Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, will assume the additional charge of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for a defined interim period. He will discharge the functions and responsibilities attached to the post from 3 January 2026 to 29 January 2026.

This temporary assignment has been made during the period of sanctioned leave of the regular incumbent, Mr Nikunja Bihari Dhal, IAS (Odisha Cadre: 1993), who will remain away from duty throughout the aforesaid duration.

The arrangement has been approved to ensure uninterrupted administrative functioning and continuity of work in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs during the absence of the regular Secretary.
