Noida Police’s Commendable Sense of Duty – Young Man’s Life Saved on a Cold Night

On the evening of December 3, around 8:30 PM, a sharp winter chill had settled over Delhi-NCR, extending with equal intensity across Noida. Traffic was flowing steadily through the underpass near Electronic City Metro Station in Sector 63, as it does every evening. At that very moment, Parijat Tripathi, Editor of Bharat Express TV News Channel, happened to be driving through the same route.

As he approached the underpass, something strange caught his eye. Along the large left-side wall inside the tunnel, he noticed an object lying on the ground, dangerously close to the lane where vehicles were speeding past. From a distance, it appeared like a discarded dummy or a bundle of cloth. But when he came closer, he was stunned to discover that it was actually a young boy—no more than 18 or 19 years old—lying motionless on the road.

One of the boy’s legs was slightly stretched into the path of oncoming traffic, making it almost certain that a vehicle could hit him at any moment. At that instant, a passing motorcyclist noticed the leg and gently nudged it inward with his foot, narrowly preventing what could have been a fatal accident. Although the boy’s body now rested closer to the wall, he was still in an extremely dangerous position.

This underpass is known for heavy traffic during the peak hours of 6 PM to 9 PM, when commuters rush home and vehicles routinely accelerate through the narrow stretch. In such situations, anything lying on the road is almost always run over, as drivers rarely stop in a congested tunnel.

Realizing the gravity of what he had just witnessed, Editor Tripathi immediately abandoned his plan to head home. The thought of leaving the youth unattended weighed heavily on him. He drove ahead, took a U-turn from the highway, and hurried back toward his office building — located right behind the Sector 63 H-Block Police Chowki.

His only concern was that his electric scooter was running critically low on battery. Still, he decided that the risk of the scooter stopping was insignificant compared to the urgency of helping someone whose life was in jeopardy. Trusting his instincts, he rode straight to the police post.

Upon entering the chowki, he found two police officers and another individual inside. Without wasting a moment, he introduced himself: “Namaskar, I am Parijat Tripathi, Editor at Bharat Express TV News Channel.”

The officer politely invited him to sit, and Tripathi quickly explained the entire situation, emphasizing that a young boy was lying in a life-threatening position on the road.

Recognizing the urgency of the matter, the officer immediately called out for assistance. Two constables—Gaurav Chaudhary and Moolchand Yadav—arrived promptly. They rushed outside along with Tripathi. Constable Moolchand took the wheel of the police vehicle, while Constable Gaurav and Tripathi sat in the back.

When they reached the underpass, they parked the vehicle strategically to divert traffic safely. The three men quickly approached the boy. This time, they noticed something unusual: a thin, transparent vegetable-market plastic bag was tied around the youth’s head. Luckily, he was still breathing. There were no visible injuries, and based on their assessment, the constables suspected that he had collapsed due to heavy alcohol consumption.

Constable Moolchand returned with a bottle of water, but Gaurav immediately stopped him, cautioning: “Don’t pour water on him. It’s freezing cold — wet clothes will make his condition worse.”

They also observed that the boy had lost control of his bladder, further indicating that he was completely unconscious and unresponsive despite multiple attempts to wake him.

Following proper jurisdictional protocol, Constable Gaurav quickly contacted Sector 58 Police Station, under whose area the spot technically fell. He informed them about the situation so they could take charge.

Tripathi thanked both constables for coming along despite knowing the location was under another police station. They could easily have made a phone call and waited, but instead they chose to respond with urgency and compassion.

Within minutes, a police vehicle from Sector 58 arrived with flashing lights. Four officers stepped out, examined the youth, and began assisting him. Once the boy was safely under their care, Tripathi accompanied Constables Gaurav and Moolchand back to the H-Block police chowki.

There, Tripathi personally expressed his gratitude to the constables for their timely and humane intervention. He then stepped inside to thank the senior officials. Gaurav had already informed him that Avadhesh Pratap Singh was in charge.

When Tripathi met the officers, he said sincerely, “Avadhesh ji, today you and your team have demonstrated exceptional public service.”

Another officer replied, “I am Avadhesh Pratap Singh. And this is our ACP, Mr. Umesh.”

Tripathi warmly thanked both senior officials and acknowledged their swift, coordinated response.

In the end, the incident left one clear message: the Noida Police showed remarkable alertness, compassion, and dedication — proving once again that prompt action and a sense of duty can indeed save a life.
