IAS officer Ashish Thakare, from the 2011 batch of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as Director in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
Central Deputation Appointment Under Central Staffing Scheme
His appointment has been approved under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever comes earlier. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued formal orders for his immediate release from current responsibilities to facilitate his joining in New Delhi.
According to the order, Mr. Thakare is expected to take charge within three weeks from the date of issuance. Failure to do so may result in debarment from future appointments under the Central Staffing Scheme, in line with Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) guidelines.
Role and Responsibilities
In his new role, Mr. Thakare will be responsible for formulating and implementing national-level policies and programs aimed at the welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities. His appointment signifies the Centre’s continued commitment to inclusive development and the promotion of equal opportunities for all citizens.
